Lucas Racing
What started out as a disaster for the #04 and #39 teams turned into a mid-summer bonanza that led both drivers into the chase in 2019. Alex Crapser and John Battista won the Daytona Duels and were the kings of speedweeks. After that, a combined 1 top-10 in the next 6 races made Adam Crapser's arrival seem more welcome than initially thought. Fortunately, Week 7 saw the miracle and doom at Texas come into fruition with an Alex Crapser victory, giving momentum to the most consistent stretch of the season. John Battista also recorded four 7th-place finishes in-a-row: an Extravaganza Series record. The magic died after Battista's dump-and-run of Craig Lee at Charlotte caused his karma to swing towards the dark side. Still, the hope and promise of the 2020 season is as high as ever before.
On the opposite spectrum, Adam Crapser's 29th-place points finish and 6 laps led was a disappointment for the #4 team, even for a rookie campaign. Teammate Dalton Lucas had an early stretch of five top-40's in-a-row. Unfortunately, none of them were in the top-30. His 2nd place finish at Michigan propelled him to think differently from stepping down as driver and putting Bink Lucas into the full time seat. It will be interesting to see who will finish higher in the points in 2020.
2019 Points
