The greatest drivers in N.O..L. Extravaganza battle it out for winner of the first race of the 2020 season. The crowd was packed in yellow, an obvious indication of Tim McDonnell's new-born popularity after his last Championship. Rick Jackson comes into this race as the favorite for the 50-lap feature.

Tony Pizzaro grabbed the pole over two-tenths of a second ahead of the rest of the field. The draft took him off the throne immediately, falling to the high side and drifting back as the QSM teammates fly to the lead.

12 of the 16 drivers led at least one lap during the race. Champion Tim McDonnell led the most with 8, but could hardly hold on for more than a couple circuits at a time before the three-wide madness sucked him back to the pack.

There were several close calls during the middle of the event. The Jackson cousins and Ryan Heuser glued together in tur three but somehow saved it from a massive wreck. The wall found Alex Crapser a couple laps later. In front of him Rick Jackson flew down the pit exit after contact with John Tharp.

The only wreck of the race occurred on lap 36. Bill Werkheiser clipped Matthew Dominique in turn 3, sending them up the racetrack and into Craig Lee. All three cars hit the outside wall, with Ryan Heuser piling into the wreck just afterwards. Bill received the most severe damage and fell out of the race.

It was more of the same racing until the final lap. R2W teammates Tony Pizzaro and Rick Jackson flew under Zach Michael for the lead with 2 laps to go. Zach found a hole on the bottom, pushing Tony past Rick on the white flag lap and looked to charge for the win.

On the backstretch of the final lap, Tony and Zach flew high to block a charging Rick Jackson. The #20 couldn't muster enough horsepower to make a move on the Boston Red Sox machine coming into turn 3, and followed him all the way to the finish line to give Tony his first career Bud Shootout win. Congrats to Tony, crew chief Neil Justice and the Race2Win team for an excellent victory!
