Ken Pettit and Scott Jackson look to end their long winless streaks coming into Atlanta. Ken won this race last season, while Scott hasn't won since Indianapolis of 2018. Both drivers enter the event in the top-10 in points, while top-dog Johnny Reed Foley looks to rebound after some tough luck at Phoenix.

The horsepower of the #18 machine proved true once again with Foley's first pole position of the season. He, Tim McDonnell, Tony Pizzaro and Ryan Heuser led laps during the first 15 circuits.

Bill Werkheiser was pinched between Matthew Dominique and John Battista entering turn 1 on lap 16. His car flew up the banking and slammed into John Battista, clipping Zach Michael's rear. The UNOH machine flew to the inside, making contact with Guthrie and Matthew Dominique. John Tharp slammed into it as well, becoming the fourth top-10 standings driver involved in the massive crash.

Several of the 29 total lead changes occured after the next restart. Tim McDonnell and Rick Jackson swapped the lead with the QuickSilver Motorsports drivers, looking like the 2019 dominators we were expecting.

Before long the Tony Pizzaro machine flew to the top of the scoreboard, posting the fastest lap times by far and easily squeezing past Scott Jackson on the inside. He would tow the rest of the field until the second caution flag, brought out by a Mark Guthrie spin on lap 79.

After a Pizzaro-dominant green-flag run, pit stops would bunch the field back together for a Pizzaro vs. QuickSliver engine program showdown (with AMPIO). Dave Miller made a three-wide move to take the top-spot on lap 167. 27 laps later, he would do it again.

The #12 was pack on point on lap 196. It would take 56 more laps before Ryan Heuser took the lead and began to pull away. It looked to be a repeat of California.

After a 190-straight laps of green flag racing, the intensity and impatience started to show. It was apparent that something big was about to transpire, possibly ending some very good runs in the process.

Towards the end of green-flag pit stops, Zach Michael and Jimmie Stevens made contact entering turn 3. The #2 machine hit the outside wall hard and brought out the caution, trapping Pizzaro, Miller, Tim McDonnell and Craig Lee a lap down in the process while Michael found himself untrapped. After the restart, Jack Paynter and Mark Guthrie flew through the backstretch infield and into oncoming traffic, creating a five-wide log-jag of infinite disaster. Tim McDonnell, Alan Nesfeder, Brandon Raines, Randy Dobbins and Matt Raboin were all involved in the melee. Neither diver would finish in the top-15.

It was a 40-lap dash to the finish. Pizzaro and Lee raced their way back to the lead lap, while Ryan remained up front. With 17 laps to go, Pizzaro worked his way through the traffic to take the lead away, holding the NOS Energy car off before the final 6-lap stretch.

With 6 laps to go, Ryan made a final charge on the inside of Pizzaro for an entire lap. The speedy lapped car of Johnny Reed Foley gave him enough dead air to fail at completing the pass. Pizzaro would use Foley's draft to cross the finish line by a couple car-width's over Ryan, winning his second race in the last three events. Congrats to Tony, crew chief Neil Justice and the Race2Win team for an excellent victory!
