The eternal rainfall comes to an end! A green racetrack saw John Battista run a whopping 46.7, earning the pole while qualifying inside the top-12 for an eighth-straight event. "We ate burgers at the Hash House Bistro." said Battista, currently on his new "Herbivore and More!" food restriction. "Lew told me to eat only once a week, unless I'm hungry." He will start beside Bink Lucas, with the Race-2-Win brigade gridding directly behind.

Race Recap

Battista's #39 Lucas Racing Wendy's Chevrolet dominates the initial stretch, leading the first three laps. His immaculate pace dropped Rob Scarberry and Jonathan Skrabacz out of the draft, with only Matthew Dominique and Logan Sheets able to make a bid for the top-spot. Sheets abandoned Battista's draft-line to make a charge of his own, dropping to the inside only to be blocked by Dominique.

Battista was freight-trained by a conga-line on the inside, handing the #25 Alpinestars Quantum Racing Viper the advantage on lap-14. He'd lead the field through lap-23, racing side-by-side with Zach Michael only for Craig Lee and Timothy McDonnell to scurry past both on the inside. Lee, Dominique and McDonnell fought relentlessly with Battista, Michael, Ken Pettit, Rick Jackson, Dakota Wilkins and Tony Pizzaro up front as the handling began to wither.

Matthew Dominique led the entire second-half of the fuel run, coming in to pit on lap-52. He'd come out a morbid 37th, relegated to the deepest pack after a jack malfunction on the left side, combined with staying out longer than the other leaders. Doom would inherently follow. Lap-60 contact between Bink Lucas and David Butterworth sent both cars through the infield grass, sliding up the turn-3 bank and into traffic. Lucas managed to save the car, with the #81 clipping Alex Crapser and into a tail-spin. Dominique couldn't avoid him, slamming his rear-bumper and plowing hard radiator-first into the outside wall. Miraculously, Butterworth was able to continue, with Dominique ostracized from the event and into the garage.

44 cars enter the pits! Carnage was nearly inevitable, with Zach Michael slamming into Michael Henson as he exited his stall. The radiator and front assembly was destroyed, ending the race for the #20 Coca-Cola Mustang. They'd drop from second to fourth in the standings, 129-points behind Johnny Reed Foley. Teammate Markell Murphy endured the same fate, colliding with new leader Dakota Wilkins as the #77 attempted to exit. Murphy fell out with a broken control arm, with Wilkins hindered on speed for the rest of the event.

Dalton Lucas stays out! He, John Tharp and Ken Joynt gamble on their ten-lap tires, with Lucas nullifying a 30-race streak of failing to lead a lap! His reign of terror would end quickly, watching Rick Jackson, Johnny Reed Foley and Tony Pizzaro power through on the inside. The #12 Fenway Frank machine dominated the initial stint, leading he field through lap-85. Foley, Zakk Miller, Rick Jackson and Logan Sheets each swapped spots at the helm, only for Pizzaro to re-take the advantage and steal away the Halfway Bacon.

Donald Stewart and Jeremy Hebel lost the draft early in the run, getting lapped on lap-100. They would join Tony Gunk, Michael Henson, Rob Scarberry, Jonathan Skrabacz, David Butterworth and Dakota Wilkins, each losing the draft and falling to the wayside. Zakk Miller navigated through the lapped traffic better than Pizzaro, taking the top-spot before Craig Lee, Rick Jackson and Johnny Reed Foley took their turns leading the pack. After stops were cycled, Pizzaro came out with an immaculate five-second advantage, leading through lap-127, with Race-2-Win teammates Rick Jackson and Ken Pettit second and third.

David Butterworth finds trouble again! He and Chauncey Redmond Jr. tangle in turn-3, both sliding down the bank into the path of Dakota Wilkins. A cavalcade of back-runners miraculously made it through the smoke and detritus, possibly saving the lives of all three. Up front, the advantage that Pizzaro, Jackson, Pettit, Lee, Foley and Sheets had accumulated was gone. The #44 Crown Royal Chevrolet led the field to green with 46 laps-to-go.

Jackson and Craig Lee swapped the advantage during the initial stages. Ryan Heuser followed Lee on the outside, with Ken Pettit pushing Jackson only to cross him up on the tri-oval! Jackson flew back, as Pettit desperately fought Lee and Sheets in a three-wide spectacle across the start-finish line. Pettit won the battle, receiving draft help from Heuser on the outside. The team cars failed to maintain their obligations, infuriating the high-officials of the rival Quick-Silver and Race-2-Win organizations!

John Battista, Johnny Reed Foley, Rick Jackson and Ken Pettit dominated the show up front. In an unexpected maneuver Heuser and Alan Nesfeder entered the pits with 25-to-go! Scott Jackson followed suit, with Jackson, Pettit, and Timothy McDonnell coming in the following lap. By the end, John Tharp and Tony Pizzaro were the only front-runners hoping to stretch it on fuel. Tharp was forced to come in with 8-to-go, with Pizzaro diving in the ensuing lap. They would take fuel-only, gapping a near three-second advantage over the two-tire cavalcade behind. The lead-duo was caught with 4-to-go, forcing Tharp to produce a block from the Gods! It worked for a lap, only to see Rick Jackson, Ziggy Moonglow and John Battista scatter by on the inside. Battista made a three-wide move beneath both with draft help from Tharp. The maneuver worked. Tharp would back off coming to the white, hoping Moonglow would tag his bumper and make a charge. The gamble paid off. Moonglow and Tharp tag-teamed past Battista on the backstretch, handing the #14 Zig-Zag Chevrolet the final advantage to clinch his second victory of 2025!

An impossible comeback for John Tharp! The #14 Zig-Zag PHR Racing Chevrolet was 28th in points after Richmond in June. Since then, twelve top-20 finishes in fifteen race puts Tharp up to 11th, recording his first Eddie Money Classic and Yellow Brick Road victories in one full swoop! A fourth-straight multi-victory season keeps this independent program in top-tier condition; an immaculate boon with their continuing negotiations for Toyota factory support in 2026. Congratulations to Tharp, crew chief King Joe Dawkins and the entire PHR Racing crew for an excellent victory!
