Daytona Duel #2 Results
$1,000,000 and a shot at the outside-pole! The second 60-lap Shootout includes five former Champions (Johnny Reed Foley, Scott Jackson, Tony Pizzaro, Ken Pettit and Dave Miller), the reigning two-time vindicator (Johnny Reed Foley), and the Daytona 500 favorite (John Battista). Bud Shootout winner Logan Sheets will start on the pole, with newfound Dodge counterparts Scott Jackson and Rob Scarberry racing to make the field in what could be their final Daytona 500.
Rod Weston, Geno Sphere, Scott Jackson, Ronaldo Scott, Larry Sheldrake, Rob Scarberry, Ken Joynt, Mike Carroll and Doug Spark melee for the top-5 transfer spots! Up front, Logan Sheets, Jimmie Stevens and Tony Pizzaro swap the lead through lap-10, with the entire field holding on to the lead pack. Stevens and Lifesaver Racing teammate Bink Lucas eventually tag-teamed to the front, holding off the rest of the lead group through lap-25.
Ken Joynt's #33 Skoal Chevrolet loses the draft! Farewell-tour drivers Scott Jackson and Rob Scarberry fell several laps later, struggling with the handling of their Dodge Charger's. Up front, Logan Sheets' intrepid attempts to bypass Bink for the lead, only for John Battista to catapult past both by the exit of turn-4. Miracle-men Larry Sheldrake and Mike Carroll took their turns at the front, lapping Ken Joynt with Doug Spark who lost the draft before the halfway mark.
With 20-to-go, Scott Jackson and Rob Scarberry were in danger of losing a lap. The #38 ATEUP machine made every to Daytona 500 since the dawn of the century, driving the more consistent Chevrolet's throughout his tenure. The hit-or-miss Dodge Charger's fell to the latter in 2026, with Tony Gunk missing the race, and Jackson and Scarberry desperately needing a caution flag to have a chance at the big show. Up front, the teams prepare for fuel stops.
Tony Pizzaro and Cristian Torres came in first on lap-41. By the completion of the cycle, Jimmie Stevens, Ken Pettit, Geno Sphere, Pizzaro and Mike Carroll ran away in a top-5 cavalcade, using the draft of Rob Scarberry and Scott Jackson to pull ahead of the second group. Barring a miracle, Jackson, Scarberry and Ken Joynt would fail to make the Daytona 500. Up front, Jimmie Stevens would lead the entire stint, pulling off a miracle run of the Gods after a morbid 2025 campaign.
A debris caution with 7-to-go! Doug Spark's hopes stays alive; only ten car-lengths from being lapped by the "AMPIO" #2. Up front, Jimmie Stevens, Tony Pizzaro, Ken Pettit, Geno Sphere and Adam Crapser battle for the victory, with Sphere, Larry Sheldrake, Mike Carroll, Rod Weston, Ronaldo Scott and Doug Spark fighting for the top-5 transfers. Stevens jumps to an early advantage, with the Race-2-Win teammates tag-teaming past the lapped traffic on the bottom lane. Pettit passes Pizzaro on the white flag lap, losing momentum on the #2.
Pettit and Torres pull off a last-lap slingshot attempt on the backstretch, but to no avail! Jimmie Stevens catapults from a podium-less 2025 campaign to a victory in the Daytona Duels, starting outside front-row for the Daytona 500, and already earning 1/12th of his previous year winnings before the inagural points event! Congrats to Stevens, crew chief Don Hickle and the entire Lifesaver Racing organization for an excellent victory!
